ABOUT US
Development Gold International (DG International) is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to promoting ethical gold production within the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector. Governed by an independent board and advisory board, DG International collaborates with key stakeholders—including the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners and the Association of Indigenous Miners—as well as refineries committed to sourcing responsibly produced ASM gold.
Building partnerships for responsible mining
DG International works closely with industry and regulatory bodies to support the Development Gold Ghana (DGG) Performance Standard, including:
Regulatory Authorities: Minerals Commission, Water Resources Commission, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ghana Standards Authority, GoldBod
Academic & Industry Experts: University of Mines and Technology
Supply Chain Organizations: Jewellers Association of Ghana, Federation of Ghana Goldsmiths & Jewellers Associations
Through these partnerships, DG International fosters a shared commitment to socially and environmentally responsible mining practices.
driving impact on the ground
DG International recently developed the Development Gold Ghana Performance Standard to improve social and environmental practices in mining. The organization currently oversees two flagship projects in the Ashanti Region, which have successfully completed their first verification assessments. DG International aims to expand this model to additional responsible mining operations across Ghana.
By promoting ESG best practices and strengthening supply chain credibility, DG International is paving the way for a more sustainable and ethical ASM gold sector.
